Goodrich designs and manufactures Laser Warning Receivers for
reconnaissance vehicles, Armored Personnel Carriers and main battle
tanks. The warning devices alert vehicle crew members when they
have been targeted by Laser-aided fire control systems. Crew
members are alerted that an enemy has either completed a firing
solution or that a precision-guided munition or beamriding is
heading for their vehicle. These systems are REQUIRED to provide
sufficient time for rapid vehicle maneuvering and deployment of
obscurants to avoid the the fire control solution and therefore
survive these kind of engagements.
Goodrich's systems that are currently available for use on armored
vehicles and high value targets include: the AN/VVR-1 Laser Warning
Receiver System (LWRS); the AN/VVR-2 Laser Detecting Set (LDS),
with first production units delivered in 1996 and deployed on
on armored vehicles and high value targets; and the AN/VVR-3
LDS. Both the AN/VVR-1 LWRS and the AN/VVR-3 LDS can be used to
replace the laser detector belts of the Multiple Integrated Laser
Engagement System (MILES)/Air-To-Ground Engagement System (AGES)
for training.
