Goodrich's Electro-Optical Systems has had over thirty years of
experience in the development and manufacture of beryllium optics
and assemblies. As a result we have produced some of the most
successful cryogenic all-beryllium telescopes including the
Midcourse Airborne Target Signatures (MATS) sensor, the Infrared
Astronomical Sensor (IRAS) Optical Subsystem, and the Infrared
Telescope Technology Testbed (ITTT) for the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory's Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF).

- High thermal conductivity;
- Very high specific stiffness;
- Opaque material but transparent to x-rays.
